When you want EVERYTHING
The one faux pas we make being in business is that we are used to getting everything we want. Not because we are spoilt but because we are used to working hard to achieve everything we want. If there is one thing successful people know that's to get somewhere or get what you want you have to be willing to go to any length to get it.
The problem with this theory is that we don't know where to draw the line. We apply the same rules to personal life as well. Now if that's a good thing or not is a discussion for another time. But professionally or personally there is one thing I learnt recently and that's you can't have everything! Now now before you bite my head of hear me out!
You can't have everything cause nothing is ever going to be enough. Let's say u win an award, achieve your target or whatever it is you set out to do the moment it's done you will start plotting your next challenge or start questioning what's missing. This to a certain extent is brilliant for the hunger for success but does it let you really marvel at the moment... And soak it all in? Not really!
I have said this before I will say this again we are too hard on ourselves and I can't think of a better way to change this than patting yourself on the back and giving yourself a round of applause or a standing ovation if you will.
We need to stop and marvel at the moment. This gives us prospective and also shows us how blessed we are to be able to do what we do. Once gratitude sets in it rejuvenates the mind and gears us to actually do better and become more productive. It also allows us to evaluate where we went wrong so we better ourselves next time.
While all of this is fine and dandy on paper we will still always want everything and we will want everything NOW! How does one achieve this *inner peace* (totally going for Kung fu Panda reference) that I speak of?
Simple when you find yourself in that moment... Stand on the outside and see how it looks to others around you... You will feel on top of the world which will manifest itself as a huge grin on your face that you just can't wipe of for the foreseeable future!
Go get your grin on!
